It's me again, Beefsalad on Cliffs behalf. I got a letter from Cliff while I was out on vacation. In short, he says he can fit a watermelon up his... no wait that's not what he said at all. Sorry, I love to crack jokes about him while he can't defend himself. I suspect he'll be up for murder when he's released and reads this.
Here is some of the letter, verbatim as best I can. (His penmanship is barely better than mine)
"It seems I won't be getting out for quite a while now. :( As of this past Wednesday (the 22nd) I was sentenced to two years prison time and was only given credit for time served starting June 2nd, 2009 instead of October 3rd, 2008. I really got screwed. Now it is up to the Department of Corrections if I get credit all the way back to October. Also, I won't do all 24 months. I'll probably do 12-18 months. So that's why I hope I get credit for that other 8 1/2 months.

The address here will be my address for a while until I'm shipped off to prison. That will be a few months though. So feel free to post this address and my inmate number on S.O.S. for everyone to write."
So here's his address. Please write him harassing letters, but keep in mind that the jail/prison staff may read it before it gets to him. Send him a cake with a file baked in. That'll surely get him put in solitary for a while.

Beefsalad here on Hawkwinds (Cliff) behalf. I recieved news a couple of days ago that Cliff was sented to 2 years in federal prison effective June 1st. Disappointing news for those of us that know him, or atleast used his RPMs. I guess I should also post on linuxfordummies.org. I'm a busy guy, so I have little time to do these updates. I apologize to you all. I am doing the best I can for a dear friend of mine. He's probably pissed at me right now, as I haven't been able to answer his calls in weeks, and have yet to return his letter. If I were a follower of Mandriva, I would attempt to step into his shoes, but I left that scene while it was still Mandrake. *sigh* some times I miss those days, but then again I wouldn't be making the money I am now if it were still those days. I was just a newb! I guess I always will be though. Sorry, I've kinda turned this into my own thread. If you want to send Hawkwind a card/letter/KY Jelly, feel free to email me. crash3m(@)gmail.com.

Once again, my collegue is providing you with an update. I'm going to stop talking in 3rd person now, so forgive me. As of January 21st, here is the information I had.
"Cliff was sentenced to 8 months in prison, and was given time served, so that means he will spend approximately 5 1/2 months." This was for computer intrusion charge. 9 days from now will mark 1 year in jail for hi according to www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/wadeSent.pdf. Because of shuffling around between jails, not all of that year counted towards his sentence. Cliff hopes to be in a halfway house soon, and back to contributing back to the community. Until such time, I am the sole person responsible for keeping SoS and related sites alive. I don't have much free time, so you'll notice things are slow to move. We apologize for the down time. Our host shut us down for an as of yet to be determined reason. A collegue of mine is addressing the issue, as I am unavailable. I am so unavailable, that I'm having him write this as well. We are hoping this will no longer be an issue, but if it does, we will have logs of what is going on, and will be able to address it. There is a good chance that someone was spamming or crawling the site. I haven't seen any hints of spam, so I don't think that was the case. Hope you all have a great year, and I hope to be releasing new stuff soon!

As most of you know, Mandriva Spring 2008.1 was released publicly on April 10th. I have already upgraded my boxes to 2008.1 so as of today I will no longer be able to build 2008.0 rpms. I am building 2008.1 rpms, and the urpmi.addmedia commands have been added to the
2008.html page as of today. Soon you all will start seeing the rpms filling up SoS-Main and SoS-Contrib. If there are any problems or issues, please feel free to contact me. Hope everyone is enjoying the site and is still finding it useful after nearly 4 years of me building rpms for the Mandriva community!

As many of you know, and many of you don't....I recently moved from Houston, Texas to Rome, Georgia. As a result of this SoS has been inactive for a while. Since there was the release of 2008 during this time I've gotten a lot of emails and people on IRC asking me if SoS was still going to make packages for the latest version of the OS. The answer is, OF COURSE :) It's just taken some time to get settled in the new place. Now that I seem to have that done and out of the way, it's time for SoS to start supplying its faithful users with new stuff for 2008. Currently I am working on KDE 3.5.8 and have a few other things in line as well. I am hoping to have all of KDE built, tested and online for everyone by the end of this week if all goes well. I apologize for the lack of communication over the past 2 months, but things have just been hectic. If there are any special packages you would like built, feel free to contact me and I'll try my best to get them built for you.

Something new and exciting has come to SoS. I can now offer user@seerofsouls.com email accounts. However, there's more. These accounts use the Gmail interface. They come with 2GB of space and have all the features as a regular Gmail account. Only difference is, it is a @seerofsouls.com address instead of @gmail.com address. If you are interested in one of these accounts for FREE, please email me using the contact form on the contact page and give me your first/last name, your suggested username, and a current email address so I can send you the information for logging into your account. There are only 200 available at the moment, so you better act quick.
